Gabriel de Lery is a film photographer and skateboarder from St-Henri, Montreal. He’s been shooting photos for about three years now and fell in love with black and white photography. Gabriel started off by shooting mainly street photography then he slowly got into taking portaits; especially from girls. He collaborates with various agencies in Montreal, like Dulcedo Management and Montage Models for every shooting.
Helmut Newton, Henri Cartier Bresson, William Klein and Vivian Maier are all big sources of inspiration for his work. Gabriel thinks that there is something with black and white photography that is pure, it leaves place for a certain mystery and it’s something he really admires. When Gabriel was younger, he always loved finding old black and white pictures in the attic and it’s probably a big part of why he shoots mainly black and white photos today.
